It's our way of celebrating the wonders of nature while helping to save our planet.
Our Purpose
Writers on the environment tend to battle on alone. We felt a need for the companionship of like-minded people. Sharing ideas and information, leads and opportunities, sources and connections. Collaborating for the greater good. Amplifying our voices. Influencing the narrative. Saving the planet in our own way. Individually and collectively.
Membership
Membership is open to all classes of professional writers who focus on environmental issues. A secondary category is open to aspiring writers, whether young or not-so-young, who wish to gain the benefit of collaborating with more experienced writers. An ‘associate’ category is open to editors, publishers and others who have something to bring to – and gain from – our network.
What We Do
The society – and this website – are in constant development and evolution. The kind of things we are planning include:

In our start-up phase, there is no entry fee or subscription for the first 50 members.
You might be wondering . . .
Yes of course! We just ask for some degree of focus, niche or specialism in at least a part of your interests.
It’s a very broad field. You can define it however you wish! We have members who cover things like hiking, adventure, wildlife, climate change, the universe, geology, nature, castles and abbeys. And aimed at very diverse audiences too.
Again we don’t seek to be prescriptive. But as a society of professionals, we expect our members to feature writing in one way or another as a major plank in their career or activities. It is a particular aim to list both experienced published writers alongside emerging voices from the next generation. It doesn’t matter whether your write books, blogs, newspapers, newsletters, articles, scripts or screenplays. Nor how you publish them.
No. But we’ll take a stand on things that matter if it’s in the interests of our members and their craft.
We stand for honesty and transparency and we take things like diversity and equity for granted so we don’t get dragged into no-win debates.
